Synopsis

International marketing begins after a firm has decided that cross-border participation is strategically warranted. The problem is then customer-facing: how to establish what foreign customers actually value, compare evidence across countries, choose and prioritize segments, decide what to standardize or adapt, preserve a coherent brand, set accessible and economically viable prices, build workable routes to market, communicate across languages and media systems, and learn from performance without violating law or dignity. This chapter develops that cross-border growth system while deliberately avoiding repetition of general marketing from Chapter 10 and multinational entry-mode governance from Chapter 15. It integrates classic standardization-adaptation theory with measurement equivalence, country-of-origin research, international marketing capabilities, digital platforms, AI-enabled localization and current African market evidence. Transsion in African smartphone markets anchors the opening case; Spotify provides a comparative global platform case. Christian moral reasoning treats customers as persons rather than targets, joining legitimate growth to truthfulness, cultural respect, privacy, fair dealing, conscience and responsibility for foreseeable consequences.
